There are two different playstyles. There are the Iris and Mana Kheima games which play more like your regular JRPG.

Then there are every other Atelier games. They play very differently. The focus is less on the battle system and more on crafting items. There's also a time limit on virtually every one of them.

Which games were you interested in getting?

Wow! Atelier is one of my favorite series! I would like to tell how it is wonderful, but I can not do this because of poor knowledge of the language.

I recommend playing these games in chronological order:
1) Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of destiny.
2) Atelier Iris: Eternal mana.
3) Atelier Iris 3: Grand phantasm.
These games allow you to experience a very vivid emotional impressions. Mana khemia is not very interesting compared to Atelier Iris.
